AMAZING EFFICIENCY

three times MORE EFFICIENT THAN MAINS PRESSURE TANKS

  • The Phase Change Material (PCM) in Heat Batteries is 4 times better at storing heat than water, hence it's so small
  • 21st Century vacuum insulation, that can’t be used around curved tanks so heat losses from the heat batteries are tiny, only 0.69 kWh/24h
  • This is 3 to 4 times better than a mains pressure water tank, your other option in hot water provision
  • The high power heat exchanger is able to instantly heat the cold water entering the tank so that it flows out at 55°C providing you with oodles of instant hot water when you need it
  • Uses the power of the mains water, so no noisy pumps
  • No need for Part G3 of the building regulations and all the extra pipe that entails
  • When cold water enters a traditional hot water tank, to replace the hot water that is drawn off for a shower or bath, it cools down the whole tank temperature, often causing the boiler to fire
  • Heat batteries only hold 15 litres of water (in a Size 12), so do not have the temperature loss issues of traditional hot water tanks, the unused PCM stays at 55°C until it is used

OFF-SET YOUR HOT WATER HEATING COSTS

UTILISE LOWER ELECTRICITY RATES

  • Using the amazing efficiency of the heat battery, you can charge it when it is best for you and then use that heat when you need it
  • Recharging your heat battery via the grid through the night, when super off-peak electricity tariffs are at their lowest, releasing the stored energy during the day, when electricity is more expensive, but you need the water.
  • Charge your battery with Solar PV during the day when the sun is shining, but you don’t need much hot water, then shower that night or the following morning using the heat stored in the battery.
  • Purchase costs are quickly off-set by the long-term savings you will experience, an example calculation is below. *

This is for an eHW 210 Heat Battery heated by renewable grid electricity.

Water heated anytime vs heated overnight on cheap tariff.

Heat battery insulation is exceptional, so any heat stored overnight will still be there the following evening. Heat batteries don’t suffer from the cooling effect of fresh cold water entering to replace hot water drawn off, thus cooling the whole of the water in the tank.

A mains pressure water tank will have to be heated during peak hours to provide enough hot water for a typical family if they shower in the evening.

  • 10.5Kw of water 212 litres @ 55°C, 300 litres @ 40°C
  • 85% of the 212 litres this used every day = 180 litres
  • Heated using the immersion heater via grid electricity takes 3.25 hours
  • 3.25 hours x 2.75kW/h @ 33p per KW/h standard tariff = £2.94 a day
  • 3.25 hours x 2.75kW/h @ 12p per KW/h overnight Octopus tariff = 1.07p a day
  • Saving of £1.87 a day ( x 365) = £682 a year

Over 5 years the hot water heating savings are (£682 x 5) £3412.75

Size 210 heat battery vs a 210 litre mains pressure tank

Annual service of a mains pressure tank £75.00 vs No annual service for a Heat Battery.

This calculation is not taking in to account the lower heat loss compared to a mains pressure tank that will further add to your savings.

Mains pressure annual service is £75.00

  • Over 10 years = £750.00
  • Over 15 years = £1125.00
  • Over 20 years = £1500.00

Total savings of a heat battery heated via off peak over night electricity compared to a mains pressure tank heated on a normal tariff over 10 years is £7575.50, paying for itself very quickly.

* Actual savings will depend on how you use your water and how you charge the battery - there are so many possibilities.
